BW PHOTO BUS – FROM IDEA TO CONCEPT
BW Photo Bus was born out of the desire to bring the fun to another level, an idea that emerged at the beginning of 2017. It was then when our team’s search began looking for a car that would suit this role perfectly.
The moment we discovered the car, in a small town in Maramureș County, was love at first sight. This “ugly duckling” from 1972, lost in traffic – the historic car, lacking its brilliance, but still with a strong personality, was parked alone on the sidewalk in the middle of the snow. However, we instantly and irrevocably felt in love and since then, the car is part of our family.
The restoration process followed, in which each element of the machine was carefully analyzed and replaced appropriately. The car body was restored and painted in Brasov, and a special leather upholstery was ordered for the seats. All the elements have been carefully chosen for a neat and original look of the car.
The authenticity of the machine in the restoration process was accentuated by the original spare parts, delivered right from the country of the car’s origin, Germany. Meanwhile, woodworking craftsmen from Praid have built the solid wood casing of the photo booth and complement the mirror in the trunk of the car. The last, very important step was to establish the color palette of the machine and its elements. And so, slowly the metamorphosis of a historic car into a photo bus began to emerge.
OUR T2 VOLKSWAGEN VAN AND THE HIPPIE ERA
The T2 is a remarkable piece in the history of Volkswagen cars. Specifically, when we talk about the to the BW Photo Bus adapted model, it is the second variant of the Volkswagen Type 2: after the appearance of the Type T1, the launch of this T2 model followed. It was more spacious, more reliable and had features that were absolutely new on his segment. Its success was remarkable, but the model reached its maximum popularity after it was adapting for passenger transport (compared to the popular cars of the time – VW Beetle, Fiat 500, Mini Cooper -, the VW T2 car was ideal even for families with multiple children).
